As a second installment in the Creative Community series, I present to you Paul and Courtney Bryant of Kinora Films.
I highly encourage you to take a look at their exceptional and captivating work. Besides their talent as filmmakers, these two are also wonderful, generous people. A cup of coffee with them will do you good. Paul is such a kind soul, and Courtney is so full of passion and energy and life.
Paul and Courtney were kind enough to share more about their craft.
1. What drew you into this/why do you love it?
Paul grew up as an artist, constantly working with his hands. He was always dabbling
into different creative fields (e.g. painting, carpentry, sculpture), and
photography and video seemed like such a natural progression of everything he had
spent his time learning. Filmmaking happened much more recently for Court, but the
two of us are passionate about story telling. These videos are opportunities to form
relationships with our clients and to be the light of Christ in our community. We
feel incredibly blessed that this is what we get to do for a living!
2. How do you gain creative inspiration?
We feel really lucky to live in a city that is filled with such a vibrant creative
community. Through our friends and the other creatives we meet, we’re constantly
challenged to grow and push our craft further. And because we shoot so many
different types of videos, we get to bring unique perspectives to each project. We
try to take what we learn from each one and use that to better our films in the
3. Anything you would want people to know about you/your craft?
We love what we do so much! Whether it’s a commercial, music video, wedding, you
name it… we feel so blessed to develop long-lasting relationships with our
clients. Kinora is more than just a business to us, it’s a platform to bring glory
to the Lord. He put this talent inside of us, so we just want to take that
creativity and make films that are excellent. Also, we laugh a lot. We never take
ourselves too seriously, and because of that our work never feels like a job and it
actually strengthens our marriage. This whole thing really is a big adventure, and
we’re so excited to see the sorts of films we get to make in the years to come!
