As a third edition of the Creative Community Series, I’d like to introduce you to Meredith Carter of Bustle Gowns. Bustle is a wedding gown consignment boutique specializing in designer, vintage and sample gowns. Meredith has set up shop in the historic Bluff Park neighborhood in the Birmingham area.
I’m so very impressed with the skill, creativity and thoughtfulness required in Bustle’s approach.
I encourage to find a way a connect with Meredith! She was kind to share some thoughts about her work.
1. What drew you into this?
I worked in retail as a boutique manager and buyer for several years, all the while knowing I would have my own business one day. The owner of the boutique was such an influence on me, encouraging me to pursue my dream. When the day came for me open my own shop, I just couldn’t shake the idea of a high-end wedding gown consignment boutique. There are so many great gowns in Birmingham and they deserve to be loved and enjoyed again. Thus began, Bustle.
2. Why do you love it?
I have always loved wedding gowns. There’s something so sensational about a wedding dress on a bride. It embodies so many things, so many romantic and personal things. Additionally, the process by which a bride comes to find her dress is equally as important. I was so enthralled with the process of shopping for my own wedding gown and absolutely thrilled when I found the one, that I just had to provide that experience to new brides.
3. How do you gain creative inspiration?
Creative inspiration…that’s a good question. I’d say I gain my inspiration from the imaginative and innovative people I’m surrounded by each day. My friends and my family are very influential and I’m so thankful to have them.
