For your viewing pleasure today, I have another post in my Creative Community series. This is where I feature a friend from our wonderful community of creative professionals here in the Magic City. Click here, to see all the posts so far.

As an eight edition in this series, I’d like to feature quite a gal: Laura McCarty of Marked.

Laura is quite a well-rounded talent: she does flowers, lettering, paper, and editorial styling — to name a few aspects of her work. She is also a very kind soul and one of my favorite people to work with.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph alongside her for a styled engagement party. She also was nice enough to answer a few questions.

Get in touch with her!

1. What drew you into this/why do you love it?

I’m a creative at heart. My background is in graphic design, but I really enjoy working with my hands too. There is something so rewarding about working with your hands to create something tangible. It’s not just about makings things beautiful, but I take great pleasure in seeing the joy come over my customers faces!

2. How do you gain creative inspiration?

Oh man…everywhere? Patterns, colors, texutres, being outside… I honestly feel like I gain inspiration all the time. I’m always looking for something new to style, or a new arrangement style to try. And writing, man I just love dooding and finding new font faces and scripts I enjoy.

3. Anything else you would want folks to know about you, or your craft?

I’m so grateful to the people who keep uplifting me in my craft. I have so much to learn, and I can’t wait to keep growing. Over the next few months, I’m going to be focusing on lettering and paper. It was my first love in this whole creative process and I’m anxious to take it off the back burner!

I’ve been busy trying to catch up on sharing my recent work. Giving birth to a second child has a way of setting one back on the blog posts!

Here are some of my favorite photos from Elise and Paul’s big day. I don’t even know where to start with this couple and their families. Playing a part in this day was such an honor. This was one that I didn’t want to end. Kind and gracious folks, and this day was quite a celebration.
